I'd give this motel a negative rating if I was able to. When I reserved a room, I told them we had 3 people and would be bringing a cot, as the room only had one bed. I was told that was okay. Upon arrival, I was told 3 people in a room was illegal, but "luckily" Barb had a cancellation and had saved us the extra room. She also stated she had tried calling me 5 times, I had no missed calls on my phone. We were headed to Canada and wanted to get an early start. When I inquired about the continental breakfast, Barb said it was served between 7-9 am and told me I wouldn't want it anyway as it was only cold cereal. To which she pointed to an area with a few almost empty storage containers of cereal. Take my advice, avoid this motel, there are nicer places to stay in International Falls and you won't have to deal with the deception.
The owner Barb was most helpful, we had a wonderful stay in fact so good we stayed again on the way back from Canada. The rooms are clean and well kept and at a reasonable rate. Easy to find and right on the main highway going into Canada. Barb gave us great recommendations for a couple of restaurants and a pizza place on the way back that delivered.
Very clean and cozy. Highly recommend. Did not see the Northern Lights, so that sucks. I suppose that's not the motel's fault, but the cloud coverage ??

When I travel to small towns, I like to give the "real local" businesses my spend. I picked this hotel and I got pretty much what I expected. This is better than camping, but certainly not up to the standards of national chains like Hampton Inn. The room was small with a little round table so no real work surface. The bed was too soft for my taste and the shower felt small. The place has the appearance of the owners doing their best to keep it up, but is showing its age.
The best of the best is the way I think of this friendly, down home motel. Our family has made it a point to stop here as many as 2-3 times each year for the last 20+ years. I have my favorite room and have never been disappointed. The rooms are neat and tidy. The owners go out of their way to make our stays enjoyable. No accommodation is ever refused.
For International Falls, this is a very good place. There really isn't much that is better so comparatively, this was charming and good.
For our purposes -- staying here while visiting Voyeugers National Park -- it was fine.
Not as advertised
The main disappointment is the quality of the towels. It seems to be about as cheap as they come. Please upgrade the towels.
